Meeting 10/29

No silly introduction, just the facts:

  • Comp tickets for As You Like It are going out next week. Remember, you will be expected to check with your patrons that they have received their tickets.
  • Craft Fair discussion next week. Be prepared with your group's idea.
  • Thanks to those of you who passed out fliers for the Gift Wrapping at conferences, and those of you who signed up to gift wrap on November 8! Way to go!
  • Don't forget about your Progress Report for As You Like It. Consequences will follow for those who do not turn it in. Bad Things. Very Baaad.
  • Don't forget Scrip!
  • Don't forget Regionals!
  • Halloween Rooms: (The Mac Daddy of this meeting)
    • This Wednesday, October 31st, 5 PM to 7 PM
    • Set up: 3 PM to 5 PM
    • Clean Up: 7 PM to roughly 7:45 PM.
    • You are required to be there from set-up through cleaning up. If you have a conflict, let Mr. Bussey know.
    • You should all have a character either assigned to you (you can check the blog post, it's up there), which you should be getting a costume for. If you were not assigned a role, please choose between being an Oompa Loompa, Evil Squirrel or a Piece of Candy. Whichever you prefer. (Time for Sam's opinion: More Oompa Loompas = fun. But whatevs you wanna do)
    • The people who have new roles are:
      • Autumn Mandera - Augustus Gloop
      • Jezeth Zaragoza - Doll
      • Emily Shook - Doll
      • Olivia Cordell - Doll
      • Maddie Pedersen - Doll
    • Those of you who volunteered to bring in candy, lights, etc., thank you! Don't forget to bring those items.
    • Thanks to those of you who volunteered to help lead in the decoration process. Again, those people are: Rachel Cooper, Danielle Yoshinaga, Emily Akaimian and Alex Moss.
  • If you were not at the meeting today, you must come to Tuesday Meeting Make-ups, in the commons at a table near the gym, in the morning during access time, in order to officially make-up the missed meeting. Again, reading this does not count. This is merely a place for reference if you want to check back on things
Peace and Blessings, Peace and Blessings

If you have not been assigned a part, you can choose to be either a Candy Bar or an Oompa Loompa. Or, if anybody wants to be Wonka, we could also have multiple Wonkas like we did for the Mad Hatter for Alice In Wonderland a couple years ago. If anybody doesn’t have rehearsal and would like to do Wonka, that’d be great if you could fill in for Mitchell. Please let me know if you have any concerns or whether you don’t want the part you were assigned. If this is the case, I’m sure we can work something out. Remember: scary costumes! (But not too scary for the really little kids) Have fun!

*Note: Parentheses designate that you have rehearsal that day (everyone is called)*

Meeting Minutes from 10/15

Hi. Another post from your pal, Sam. One of the ones that is long, and important. All the information, right here. Have a ball!

  • Halloween rooms
    • Thanks for all your suggestions! They were great. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ultimately won the title, so we will be doing that.
    • Be prepared next meeting to get decoration assignments.
    • We are currently in the process of finalizing the characters. We have to get the rehearsal schedule, so we know who we will be missing, so we can plan accordingly. But keep an eye out for those
  • Craft Fair
    • Make sure your team is organized and has a project decided for you guys to make.
    • Start working on your crafts and schedule times for you to make them.
    • Pay one of the officers $1 for the craft fair. A few of you still have to do that.
  • As You Like It
    • Contracts be due! Turn 'em in!
    • Work party on Tuesday! We party hard while we work hard!
  • Regionals
    • Start working on your regional pieces.
    • Information can be found at oregonthespians.org
    • The deadline will approach quicker than you expect
  •  Patronage
    • You should be done with this.
    • Any problems? Talk to Mica.
  • While the Lights Were Out
    • Murder Mystery Farce at Southridge High School.
    • A group will be going on Thursday. Show starts at 7, but hopefully we can get down there a little beforehand. Info for carpool to come shortly. Give me a day.
    • Tickets are $5 a pop. Unless you have a thespian card. Then it's 2 for $5.
    • Please comment if you want to go, and are available to go. We will work out the rides so everybody that wants to go, gets a ride down there.
  • Roosevelt Halloween Dance
    • Friday, October 26th at 5 PM

    • If you have a question about making up a meeting or any problems, ask one of the officers. We like helping you.
Thanks, Guys!

So...

BLAH! Spooked you, right? That's cause it's Halloween season. Speaking of which, you should probably vote for Halloween rooms. Send Hayley a message. Do it, or your voice goes unheard. Dang. That'd suck. Also, there is a Thespian Meeting on Monday. Be there or we glare at you for an extended period of time. And you don't want that. It is bad. Very bad.

Reminder - Halloween Rooms and other stuff

Alrighty! Don't forget to write down your suggestions for Halloween rooms in the suggestion booklet on the Thespian board! Also, for the Murder Mystery Farce at Southridge, when do we want to go? 18th? 19th? 20th? I encourage you to comment on this post voicing your preference. And as long as your commenting, please say whether you are available to go to Roosevelt's Halloween dance on the 26th. Please, spread the word. We want to figure these things out. And don't forget about Craft fair.

Meeting Minutes for 10/1

Man! What a fun meeting! Love 'em. Thanks for checking out the blog! I'll fill you in on what we talked about. Use this as a resource for referencing back. Like: "Hey they said something really cool about Halloween rooms, but I can't remember what it was." Well, now you can be like: "I know, I'll check the blog to see what it was!" Ya dig? Good. Anyway, I'll get to it. Here's the low down on what we talked about:
  • Patronage
    • Gotta turn it in, yo. Else you get suspended from the troupe, which sucks
    • You can continue to sell patronage throughout the year, don't feel that it's over. Keep on fundraising!
    • Congratulations to whomever has sold the most patronage! You won a batch of homemade cookies!
  • Out of Darkness
    • October 6th at 10 AM
    • Please support the noble cause if you are in town this weekend. Please show your support.
    • Register at http://afsp.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.home under the team name THS Thespian Troupe #2833.
    • Questions? Contact Mica!
  • Shakespeare Trip This Weekend
    • Turn in your money, turn in your permission slip, and turn in the pre-arranged absence form.
    • Please thank Mr. Wilson if you are going! He has done a lot of work to make this trip possible.
  • Homecoming parade.
    • Due to the amount of absentees, we are not going to have a float this year.
    • We wanted to avoid the stress of putting it together from falling on a select few shoulders.
  • AIDS Walk/Strikes
    • Pretty good turn out for AIDS Walk! Good Job!
    • Unfortunately, there were a lot of you who were not present. This in and of itself is not a problem. But failing to inform Mr. Nick Bussey about the aforementioned absenteeism is a problem.
    • We consider this your warning. Next time, there will be strikes. (Remember the strike system? I was ready to give all ya'll strikes who went unaccounted for. Thank the other officers for saving your tail.)
    • Thank you to those of you who informed Bussey that you weren't going to be there. It is appreciated.
    • This is the standard format for Thespian events: Be there. If you can't, Let Bussey know.
  • Halloween Rooms
    • They is comin' up! Get pumped!
    • Got a good idea for a theme? Cool! Go ahead and write it down in the suggestion book in the scene shop! (Located next to the work room, hanging off the calendar.)
    • We will post the suggestions online next week and do the voting that way. This means suggestions must be in by next week.
  • SCRIP
    • Buy it! Use it! Please!
    • Questions? Contact Bussey!
  • Unity
    • That's the theme for the year. Feel it, breath it, live it.
    • We want to encourage an atmosphere of celebration rather than competition this year.
    • Encourage each other rather than trying to better each other.
    • We are going to start branching out to other troupes as well. Seeing their shows, having multi-troupe get togethers, etc.
  • Craft Fair
    • Thespians are doing stuff! We have organized ourselves into groups of around 9 people. If you do not have a group, please talk to fellow thespians so you can be a part of this wonderful project.
    • Groups will come up with crafts to sell at the craft fair. Quality crafts. No two-bit macaroni pictures. Stuff people wanna buy. Like life size replicas of presidents. Or bow ties. Be prepared to
    • Since we are participating this year, we had to buy a space. Mica did this with her own money. Because Mica isn't the only one selling crafts, we expect you guys to help pay for this. Thus, we have required a one dollar contribution from every troupe member. Since we all like big Flashy things, YOU MUST PAY $1. Good, read on. You can pay any of the officers, and we will check you off the list.
  • NW Regional Acting Competition (AKA Regionals)
    • February 2nd
    • We want lots of participants!
    • Get your pieces ready!
    • Todd wants us to work extra hard.
    • Any questions? Go to www.oregonthespians.org.
  • As You Like It
    • Participating in the show is a requirement.
    • Some of you aren't signed up to do tech.
    • Therefore: Those of you who haven't signed up to be a part of As You Like It need to give Aria (stage manager) a tech form.
  • Tuesday Meeting Minutes Makeups (TMMM)
    • Meetings are a requirement. (Two missed meetings = STRIKE!)
    • Some of you were not at the meeting.
    • Showing up at TMMM is the only way to make up for a missed meeting.
    • TMMM is in the commons at a table near the gym end. Officers will be there.
    • Therefore: If you were not at the meeting, you have to show up in the commons on Tuesday morning to make-up for missing the meetings.
  • Thanks guys! I love you all!
    • Any Questions? Contact me, Sam!
